"A Night of Christmas" is held annually on the first Thursday in December. It is the final event on the Grapeland Community Council's Calendar for 1998. This year the events kick off with the lighting of the Christmas Lights in the Downtown Park at 6:30 PM. Shortly after that Santa Clause will arrive by buggy on Main Street. He will then set up shop in the Downtown Park, and talk to children and have pictures made with them.

There will also be a Live Nativity Scene performed by students at grapeland Junior High School. You can listen to the beautiful Christmas Sounds of an Adult Choir, and a Children's Choir. The Grapeland High School Band will also be performing Christmas Carols, along with many other local singers and musicians.

Make sure and visit all the Businesses because they will be staying open late to let you shop, visit, and look at their new Christmas merchandise. You can also register for special Door-Prizes at the businesses. There will be food and drinks, such as Barbecue Sandwiches, Hot Chocolate, and can drinks available for you on the side walk.  So get in the Christmas Spirit early this year and join everyone down town for "Christmas in Grapeland."
